Well, the much anticipated first outing of the season kicked off at Murrayshall Lynedoch Golf Course and with a torrential downpour threatening proceedings the evening before, scoring was never going to be easy. Despite some short lived rain showers, the course by in large held up rather well.
We welcomed some new members to the society and lambasted some of the more familiar faces who were notably missing ;)
Playing our traditional Stableford format, it went right to the wire between the stalwart that is Ian Campbell and the rookie, Charlie Ivatt, making his Society member debut.
With identical overall scores and nothing to separate the two on both front and back nine results, it fell to a countback and a bitter pill for the rookie! Ivatt loses out to Campbell by a single stroke!
The words of encouragement couldn't have been any clearer from Captain Gilmour..... 'Charlie, you know the answer don't you.... PLAY BETTER!'
A baptism of fire and all in all an enjoyable day. Details to follow for the next outing at Strathmore.
